Course Description

Nuclear power: promise and danger to humanity.

Class 1 Discuss the Big Bang & stars as they create all the elements in their development.
Class 2 Leo Szilard. Nazi Germany & the Manhattan Project.
Class 3 The H Bomb & Teller.
Class 4 Two films to be shown where our world almost ended.
Class 5 The development of nuclear plants. Discuss Chernobyl, Three Mile Island, & Fukushima. Explain problems with nuclear waste.
Class 6 Discuss Thorium, the fuel that nations forgot because it was difficult to make weapons from it. 

Mr. William Harden is an active OLLI member who enjoys leading the Nuclear Energy Club.
